Obituary of Floy Lilly Mathews

Floy Lambert Mathews, 90, of the Towstring Community, died Sunday, April 20th, 2014 at her residence. A native of Swain County, she was the daughter of the late Cora and Jesse Lambert. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of the Towstring Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Seab Mathews and a son Wayne Mathews. She is survived by three daughters, Bertha Pilkington and her husband Buddy, Janice Crutchfield and her husband Ancil, and Rachel Mathis and her husband Bob, four sons, Doug Mathews and wife Glenda, Robert Mathews and wife Cindy, Raymond Mathews and wife Frances, and Roy Mathews and wife Cathy, all of Cherokee; eight grandchildren, Scott Mathews, Melissa Barker, Brian Mathews, Michelle Bridges, Kim Greene, RL Mathews, Tammy Moore and Chris Crutchfield; 12 great-grandchildren, Ricky Mathews, Eli Mathews, Crystal Mathews, Shalyn Barker, Josh Bridges, Melah Mathews, Autumn Greene, Paytyn Barker, Tanner Moore, Addisyn Mathews, Dylan Moore and Alexis Bridges. Two sisters, Lela Bales and Tinsa Sanders, two brothers Ray Lambert and Dan Lambert, and several nieces and nephews. The graveside services will be held at 2PM Wednesday at Towstring Cemetery with the Reverend J.T. Lambert officiating. The body will be taken back to the home by Crisp Funeral Home at 2PM Tuesday to await the hour of service. The grandsons will be pallbearers.
