Obituary of Robert Eugene Bowers

Robert Eugene Bowers, 65, of Croswell, MI went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, November 5, 2013. A native of Bryson City, NC, he was the son of Walt and Elizabeth Bowers and son-in-law to Ruth Burnette of Bryson City. He leaves behind his loving wife of 45 years, Patsy Burnette Bowers; three daughters and sons-in-law, Gena Makowski (Tim) of Chicago, IL, Shannon Vaughn (Jeff) of Southgate, MI, Robyn Rezny (John) of Croswell, MI; three sisters, Brenda Philemon, Kathy Simonds, and Lesa Lewis; and three brothers, Jerry Bowers, Brian Bowers, and Scotty Bowers; his pride and joy, seven grandchildren, Shae (Josh), Kayla (Travis), Ronnie Jr., Justin, Joy, Camarissa, Shyann; and two great granddaughters, Gracelynn and Aizleigh. He was lovingly known to them as their "Big Pa." Also surviving are five sisters-in-law; four brothers-in-law; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles. He was preceded in death by a brother, Dexter (Pete) Bowers and father-in-law, Rev. Jay Burnette. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and will always be remembered for his hard work ethic, wonderful humor, large laugh, and his kindness and giving to his family and friends. He will be missed by many and loved by all. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday in the chapel of Crisp Funeral Home. Revs. Jimmy Lambert and Gary Moore will officiate with burial in the Brendle Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 pm Friday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Josh Deck, Brian Bowers, James Lambert, Patrick Kirkland, Scotty Bowers, and Jerry Bowers.
