Rev. Albert (Ab) Herron, 69, of the Alarka Community went home to be with the Lord Thursday, June 24, 2010 in a Jackson County Hospital. A native of Swain County, he was the son of the late Mac and Bertie Bridges Herron. He was a Baptist Preacher having pastured several churches in the area and was a well known musician. He was a member of Mt. Vernon Freewill Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Wesley and Jess Herron.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Linda Waldroup Herron; one son, Bert Herron and wife Pam of Bryson City; one granddaughter, Natalie Crisp and husband Billy of Bryson City; one great grandson, Harvey; four sisters, Tena Houser of Thomasville, NC, Dallie Feeney of Franklin, Maxine Bradshaw of Drexel, NC, Betty Lou Shepherd of Bryson City; three brothers, Lee Herron of Bryson City, Odell Herron of Bryson City, Dave Herron of Alexis, NC.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Crisp Funeral Home. Revs. Eugene Moore and Jeff Waldroup will officiate with burial in Brendle Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2 until 4 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
