Fred Henry Moody, Jr., 75, of Bryson City, N.C. died on September 12, 2023. He was born to Fred and Girleen Moody on August 21, 1948. After graduating from Waynesville Township High School, The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and University of North Carolina School of Law, he began practicing law in Bryson City, N.C in 1972. He was honored to serve as councilor and later as president of the North Carolina State Bar. He felt blessed to live and work in the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina and loved serving the people of the area. He enjoyed boating, fishing, and hunting, always with family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Ruth Anne Williams Moody, his brother Ray and wife Gail of Waynesville, N.C., his sister Jan and husband Bobby McMahan of Sylva, N.C., his son Henry and wife Lara of Atglen, Pa., his daughter Dana, husband Jeff Leonard, and granddaughter Mackenzie of Holly Springs, N.C., and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at Bryson City United Methodist Church on Sunday, September 17, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Wayne “Wayner” Dickert officiating. Visitation will be held before the service at 2:00 p.m.
