A Soldier Died Today
He was just a common soldier,
And his ranks are growing thin,
But his presence should remind us
We may need his like again.
For when countries are in conflict,
We find the soldier's part
Is to clean up all the troubles
That the politicians start.
If we cannot do him honor
While he's here to hear the praise,
Then at least let's give him homage
At the ending of his days.
Perhaps just a simple headline
In the paper that might say:
"OUR COUNTRY IS IN MOURNING,
A SOLDIER DIED TODAY."

Uncle Ray you were high spirited and wise. What a great story teller! I couldn't wait to see you when we went to Granny Gibby's, your mama! I never heard anyone try so hard not to cuss with your dadburn its and dadjim its. Makes me laugh out loud. You will be missed. I know I will see you on the other side.
Love❤

Ray was my uncle. I remember as a kid listening to Ray, my dad, Andy Brown, my Uncle Gene Brown and my grandfather Crawford Brown tell yarns about all sorts of adventures. A lot of stories about coonhunting in the mountains. Most of the talking was Grandad And Ray. Some may have been factual but all were entertaining. Another member of The Greatest Generation gone to his reward. He as well as the others will be missed. Wayne Brown

As a little girl I remember Ray pulling up in Granny Gibby’s driveway in his Bunny Bread truck. I just loved that bread and thought Ray was pretty cool driving that truck!
When granny and pa moved to Deep Creek, Ray also saved me from the neighbors crazy dog. I went out to get my swim suit off the clothesline and here it came, I screamed and Ray came to the rescue.
RIP Uncle Ray, see you later! ❤️
