Obituary of Michael David Shuler

Michael David Shuler, 52, of Bryson City went home to be with the Lord way too soon Tuesday, July 18, 2023. A native of Swain County, he was the son of Vaughn and Sheila Shuler of Bryson City. He was a member of Spruce Grove Baptist Church. He was a true gentleman and a man of his word. He was a generous and loyal friend. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Evi Becker; and grandparents, Lawson and Hyacienth Shuler, and Amos and Georgia Stillwell. Mike is survived by a woman he loved for many, many years who he recently made his wife, Selissa Taylor Shuler. She with the help of a beautiful daughter, Brylee Shuler helped to settle him, calm him and bring such joy to his life. Mike was previously married to Rebecca Shuler, a dear friend and the mother to three children who Mike would give the world for and loved unconditionally, Teala Becker and husband Chris, Dalton Shuler and wife Kaelyn, Austin Shuler and wife Lauren. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Tytus and Freya Becker, Bailey and Clayton Shuler; brothers, James Shuler and wife LeeAnn, Steve Shuler and wife Angie; nephews, Cody Shuler and wife Marianne, Casey Shuler and wife Amber, Daniel Shuler and wife Korina, Mark Shuler and wife Jenea, and Finley Shuler. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday at the Bryson City Church of God. Revs. Roger Roland, Marty Pressley, Matt Shuler, and Coy Adams will officiate. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 pm Saturday at the church. Pallbearers will be Cody, Casey, Mark, Daniel, and Noah Shuler, Clay Wines, Lance Grant II, and Ian Brooks. Honorary pallbearers will be Hyatt Shuler, Brian Anthony, Jay Kirkland, Shane Riddle, Greg Shelton, Sean Brooks, Jeff Burrell, Kep Biggs, John McCall, Hunter Corbin, and Jacky Martin.
