Michael Shuler was my sister Sheila’s and her husband, Vaughn’s son, and my sister, Helen and I have watched him and his brothers grow up since they were born. Helen and I have expressed many times how impressed we have been by all three of Sheila and Vaughn’s boys and the men that they have become. It is a tribute to the love and parenting that they have received from Sheila and Vaughn. Such family strength, faith and love are rare in todays’ times. Helen and I are not only impressed by Mike’s accomplishments, but also by the fine young man he had become. He was a pillar of strength and fortitude. He was kind, compassionate, empathetic, thoughtful, and responsible, even from a very young age. He was always willing to help his fellow man. He was a Son, a Brother a Father, a Grandfather, a Husband, an Uncle, a Nephew, a Cousin, an Employer, a Mentor, a Friend, and a treasured member of the community. It is with a heavy heart that we have to say goodbye to Mike at such a young age. Why God called him home so early is hard to understand, but why God put Mike on earth in the first place is an easy question to answer. Mike truly lived by God’s Golden Rule: “Do unto Others as you would have them do unto you”. We love you Mike and will miss you.

Family,
The world has lost a fine man. I have known him since he was in seventh grade as I was a substitute teacher for his class. He was my wood man for several years and he truly was a man of his word. Please take heart that there WILL be a reunion someday and we will see Mike again. God bless you all.
