Rees Gillespie Russell, 76, of Charlotte, passed away on Wednesday April 12, 2023, in Bryson City North Carolina with his friends while doing what he loved.
He was born on July 25, 1946, in Abingdon, the son of the late Rees and Ava (Burke) Russell. Rees graduated from ETSU. He was retired owner and salesman of ASM (Automotive Aftermarket industry). He served in the US Army National Guard from 1970 to 1976. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and golfing with his friends.
Survivors Include: his wife of 28 years, Retha Russell; a son: Rees Gillespie Russell 3rd; two grandsons Wesley Rees Russell and Thomas Julian "TJ" Russell; and two sisters: Ava Walker (Ray) and Vivian Howard (Tim)
A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, Apr 20 from 1:00-2:00 PM at Good Shepard Church 13110 Moss Road, Charlotte Services will be officiated by Rev. Ron Dozier and Rev. Talbot Davis. In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to Billy Graham Ministries or Good Shepherd Church.
