I am Rees the third his son. Was to his friends call me little Rees or RG. I just saw this whole tribute book and such and I assume nobody will see it from here on as I'm writing a year past his death. I really appreciate everybody who wrote in here to share their memories and give me some perspective of him as a young lad. There's not enough room on this page for me to talk about my father so I will just say I am fortunate enough to have known him, been his son and met so many of his friends over the years who I still adore many of to this day. If I could be half the man my father was I'd feel complete. Dad I love you I know you won't see this but in a certain way it makes me feel good to write that to you. I wish I could have said goodbye I told you how much I loved you. I miss you everyday.

I extend my deepest condolences to Rees's family. Rees was a special man.
I met Rees through business when he was still working with ASM. Rees was a soft spoken gentleman who loved the Lord. We made a number of business trips together to visit accounts and the conversations were always great and typically included us talking about families and the Lord. Two vivid memories with Rees stand out...on one occasion, we were playing golf together and he steps into the tee box on a par 3, hits his ball with a big fade and says, "that was the worst swing I made today". We got up to the green and were looking for his ball and low and behold, it was in the hole, a hole in one. We looked at each other and just laughed. On another occasion, we were having dinner on the top floor of the Rio Hotel in Las Vegas during the AAPEX show. Again, much of our conversation included us talking about the Lord, our Faith and the world we live in today. As we left we commented on how ironic it was that we were sitting in a Restaurant above the city of Las Vegas, of all places, and talking about Jesus. I live in S. Florida and did not see Rees after he retired but I will never forget our friendship. The good in this is that I know Rees is with the Lord and we will see him again someday.

Rees bow hunted on our land for many years. He always had a smile on his face and was so friendly and polite and upbeat and generous with his “bounty”. His son and grandson came occasionally and he was so proud of them! To the family, we offer deep condolences and you will be in our thoughts and prayers.

Rees was a great guy whom I knew from when we were 11 or so. He was always friendly and wanting to be helpful to the cause. Remember playing Litttle League on UCT with Reese. Great team player and a hitter to right field. In high school Rees befriended many and was a good guy to those who had it and those who did not. Always appreciated that quality in Rees.
Sad to lose such a good person as Rees. Bleesings to his family. God looks after his servants and Rees was a good servant. David Roark

Our hearts are broken for Retha & all of Rees's family. I loved him from the first time I ever met him. I don't believe I ever saw Retha so happy as she was when she married Rees. Although I did not get to see them often, when I did, it was like we had always seen each other. He will be missed by all who knew & loved him. Retha, We love you & we are praying for comfort.

To all of the Russell family I send my deepest condolences for I know the longing and the void left by the loss of one's parents, one's brother and one's partner.
Rees was a great legacy of his parents and exemplary of the fine Russell character. I have many fond and fun memories of our youthful days spent together in Bristol with our gang. It was wonderful to see him again at our high school reunion a few years ago.
May God bless each of you with strength and joy and peace as you recall your walks through life with Rees.

I was only a kid when my Dad (Buddy Crump) worked with Rees. Like my Dad, and Rees, I loved the outdoors like they both did. I remember a couple of instances when I was 8 or 9 -- one was, my Dad stopped by his house one evening and he was outside plucking ducks, the other involved what my Dad said was the nicest limit of Brown Trout out of the South Holston River he had ever seen. Those instance were around 55 years ago and I know Rees carried that passion throughout his whole life -- Jim Crump

Rees will always hold in my memory as the one person who could me feel calm, peaceful, and smiling when he walked in the room. I feel grateful that God allowed me to spend time in this man's life.
He has left so many friends with an empty spot in their lives, but yes, we will all have such good memories and will give thanks for having known such a beautiful man.

It is hard to believe we have lost Rees, a dear friend, great neighbor and fellow golfer. I have know him for more than 20 years and initially we worked together selling to the automotive aftermarket.
Rees introduced me to my wife Jeannie and I eventually became his neighbor after moving to Charlotte in 2009.
Rees and I have been to many golf courses over the years and I m sure I will be seeing him every time I step on a tee box.
Rees was a delightful human being and will be missed by his family and his many friends,

Uncle Rees took me to the Ocean for my very first time, something I'll never forget. He showed me how to ocean fish and I caught flying fish was so cool to me. On that trip I caught my 1st stingray and til this day my only stingray. He was always so nice soft spoken and generous. I will miss him very much. I will always cherish everything he taught me and he will always have and hold a place in my heart!

Thank you, Rees, for all the years you helped us into the church on Tuesday Evening Life Group meetings. You were always so helpful with Ron's wheelchair and helping us get to where we needed to be.
Thank you for reaching out and showing friendship to us as we began to get to know you both a little better. I feel like we were just getting started and looking forward to your friendship in the future.
We know you are in a better place but we will miss you.
