I am so sorry to hear of Brett’s passing. I knew Brett from the first grade all the way through high school. He was a great athlete especially in Football. We played together on several teams while growing up and he was something to watch. He used to give me rides home from practice from time to time. I lived on the other side of Deep Creek and appreciated the fact he would drive me home so that I would not have to walk. Unfortunately after high school we went different paths in life and I was not in contact with Brett. I did ask about him often when I would see folks from Bryson City. I hate I did not follow up. One thing is for sure about Brett is that he was an unforgettable person….RIP…..my condolences to his family. Jim Hyatt

To Brett's wonderful family. My name is Janice Franklin. Brodie. I had the pleasure of living at deep creek in one of the cabins there while doing social work for Swain county. I got to know Brett a long with his family. I remember his kindness sweetness. And his humor. He was always so sweet and easy to talk to I was supposed to be there but ended up staying for eight months. It was such a wonderful experience with his family and the ambiance of deep creek. Bret you will be truly missed and always loved. Janice Franklin. Brodie
