Obituary of Robert Lee Ball

Robert Lee Ball, 80, joined the family circle in Heaven after a short period of declining health on Monday January 24, 2022. A native of Swain County he was the son of the late Frank Ball and Edy Wiggins Ball. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his siblings, Francis Ball, Calloway Ball, Hazel Kirkland, Margie Daughtery, Monroe Ball, and Burl Ball. Robert was a certified Chevrolet Technician who was awarded many honors. He was also small engine certified. Robert was the shop Forman at Cope Chevrolet in Bryson City for many years. He owned and operated his own Automotive Shop Robert Ball’s Garage for 35 years. He loved to do gardening and loved taking care of Animals. He also taught at Mechanic Schools in Virginia and Macon County, NC. Robert is survived by his wife of 61 years, Sue Ball; a daughter, Jody Ball and husband Ricky Nicholson; sister-in-law, Jan Pyles; brother, Clifford Ball who resides in Macon Valley Nursing Center, and a great nephew, Austin Pyles. Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM Monday at Crisp Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Eugene Moore will officiate with burial at East Alarka Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 PM until 2:00 PM Monday at the Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Ricky Nicholson, Austin Pyles, Homer Coleman, Mark Hyatt, Hubert Donaldson, Darrell Laney, and Buck Cloer.
