Obituary of Wallace Coy Calhoun

Bryson City Dateline: Wallace Coy Calhoun, 86, formerly of Bryson City, passed away Saturday, August 18th, 2012 at his residence in Asheville, NC. A native of Swain County, he was the son of the late L.B. and Ivalee Jones Calhoun. He was a member of the Bryson City First Baptist Church. Wallace was owner and operator of Wallace's Grocery and Bait Center for over 20 years. He was a U.S. Army Veteran having served in the Korean War. He was preceded in death by a son, Steve Calhoun and one grandson Gregg Wright. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Margaret Ann Calhoun; three sons, Dan Calhoun and wife Karan of Gaffney, SC, Joe Calhoun of Blacksburg, SC, and Jim Calhoun and wife Arlene of Raleigh, NC; four grandchildren, Clayton, Brian, Anne, and Jared; one sister, Bertha Brewer of Tenn., and two brothers Gay Calhoun of Bethel, and Ray Calhoun of High Point, NC. Funeral Services will be held 3:00 PM Tuesday in the Chapel of Crisp Funeral Home. Dr. John Tagliarini will officiate with burial in Swain Memorial Park.
