At Swain High I did not have the pleasure of being a student of Marie’s. Yet, that changes in my adult life. I learned tremendously from her at GCA, Hillside, and when she welcomed my visits into her home for advice, prayer, and Bible devotions. I never saw Marie without a smile followed with beautiful soft spoken words of encouragement. I was continually amazed at her ability to recall verses for all occasions and life applications. Her life was a continual testimony for the Lord as she displayed patience, gratitude, and charity even while facing her personal health issues. Thank God for her influence and service at GCA that my children and I were blessed to experience!

Rev. Alemany--You might find a bit of surcease from sorrow, in this time of mourning, in my sharing the fact that my late father, Commodore Casada, thought the world of Marie. He had known her from her childhood onward and more than once I recall him saying, "now that Marie is one fine woman." Clearly she was.
