Obituary of Amy Elizabeth Jones Zuniga
Amy Elizabeth Jones Zuniga, 30, gained her wings on Tuesday, June 11, 2019, after a one-year courageous battle with leukemia. A native of Bryson City, Amy was the daughter of Diane Jones and the late Carroll James Jones. She was also preceded in death by grandparents Glenna Burns Waldroup and Bud Waldroup; and Frankie and Donald Jones.
Amy is survived by her mother, Diane; son Ryder of Fresno, TX; brothers Perky Jones of Indianapolis, IN; Robbie Jones (Shona) of Charleston, SC; Aaron Jones of Bryson City; Shannon (Michelle) Lackey of Bryson City; and Chris Jones of KY. Nieces and nephews: Shyla and Bryce Jones of Charleston, SC; Jonathan and Brittany Lackey of Bryson City; and Aubriauna Jones of KY. Aunts Sarah Crisp, Darlene Sawyer, Laura Griffin; uncles James Waldroup and Jody Waldroup, all of Bryson City.
Amy served her country proudly as a Sergeant in the United States Army from 2011 to 2016. She trained as a Biomed repair technician while stationed at Fort Campbell Army base in Hopkinsville, KY.
She is described as a ray of sunshine by her family and many friends. Amy had a big heart who loved life. Her hobbies included cooking, fishing, gardening and four wheeling.
Services will be held in the chapel of Crisp Funeral Home on Friday, June 14 at 2:00 pm. Pastor Michael Watson will officiate.
The family will receive friends at Crisp Funeral Home on Thursday, June 13, from 5 to 7 pm. Burial will be at Watkins Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Perky Jones, Robbie Jones, Aaron Jones, Jody Waldroup, Josh Waldroup, Jason Sawyer and Brandon Burdette.
