Obituary of Oliver Edward Dills

Pastor Oliver (Ollie) Dills, 64, of Bryson City went home to be with the Lord Saturday, April 14, 2018. A native of Swain County, he was the son of the late Clarence and Eva Franks Dills. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, J.V., Robert, and Cecil Dills. He was the active pastor of Cold Springs Baptist Church. He had pastored at several other churches in Swain County. He was a very gentle and loving man to all who knew him. His greatest love was the Lord. He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Claire Dills; two sons, Mathew Young-Dills (Tony) of Sylva, Jonathan Lee Dills of Sylva; one step-son, Russell Peek of Franklin; one granddaughter, Kerry Peek of the home; two sisters, Betty Lackey (Monroe) of Bryson City, Catherine Freeman of IL; one brother, Henry Dills (Debi) of Commerce, GA; several nieces and nephews, cousins and a large church family. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm Tuesday at Cold Springs Baptist Church. Pastors Earl King and Caleb King will officiate with burial in the King-Smiley Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 pm Tuesday at the church.
