Obituary of Ronald Edward Douthit

Ronald Edward Douthit, 69, of Bryson City, passed away Saturday, February 3, 2018 at 5:05am at Maggie Valley Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. He was a native and lifelong resident of Swain County. He was the son of the late Paul Douthit and Beatrice Montieth. Ronnie, whom was retired at the time of his passing, worked for the Great Smoky Mountain National Parks. He was and ever shall be an avid Outdoorsman. Ronald is survived by his wife of 43 years, Madge Douthit; son, John R Douthit; daughter, Kylie D Nichols and her husband, Steve; two brothers, Jim Douthit and his wife, Juanita, and Mike Tisdale and his wife, Jan; sister, Denise Parker and her husband, Keith; close friend, Jerry DeHart and his wife, Linda; grandsons, Quenton Sizemore and Devin Davis; granddaughters, Taylor Douthit and Haley Sizemore; and numerous nephews and nieces. A memorial service will be held at Crisp Funeral Home in Bryson City on Monday, February 5, 2018 at 6:30pm with Rev. Wesley Stephens and Mike Crisp presiding. A visitation for family and friends will be held prior to the service beginning at 5:00pm. In lieu of flowers, Ronald and his family requests that any memorials may be made as donations to the Great Smoky Mountain National Park Service at https://friendsofthesmokies.org/donate/ . Crisp Funeral Home is honored to serve the Douthit family and their friends in their time of need.
