Beloved Father and Grandfather Talmage Lee Jones Jr. 72 of Bryson City, NC passed away on January 11, 2018. Memorial Service details to be announced. T.L. was born in Bryson City, NC to Talmadge Lee Jones Sr. and Lula Coulter Jones on August 14, 1945. He went to Swain County High School and graduated in 1964. He went on to play Football at Lenoir-Rhyne University for a year before enlisting in the United States Marine Corp. T.L. was a Vietnam Veteran. After returning from Vietnam he worked for the park services, railroad and Cope Chevrolet. He went on to earn a degree from Western Carolina University. He worked for North Carolina Department of Social Services retiring as the Director of Swain County Social Services. T.L. was a Swain County Alderman, later becoming Mayor Pro-tem and then elected a Full-term Mayor. He spent many years on the ABC Board and was a current member. Also, he was a Swain County Hall of Fame honoree and Board Member. His favorite hobby was being his grandkids, Conner, Cooper, and Kinsley Hyatt's BIGGEST FAN at all of their sporting events. He is survived by his wife Judy Jones of Bryson City NC; his daughter, Kerri Lee Jones Williams (Kent) of Cartersville, GA; his son's, Curtis Hyatt (Molly), Travis Hyatt (Lee) and Ryan Hyatt of Bryson City, NC. He had 9 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, Sherri Williams Boyd, Kathy Williams Webb, Racheal Medley, Lee Ann Williams and Cindy Little. Cousins, Joe Walter Jones and Betty Jane Prather. He is preceded in death by his parents Talmadge Lee Jones Sr. and Lula Coulter Jones, Sisters Becky Jones Barger and Rita Jones Williams and Wife Patsy Garrett Jones. In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to Disabled American Veterans at DAV.org The family wishes to extend its gratitude to his life long friends, Vernon "Rock" Ledford, Doyle Smith and Bergen Edwards, and to the entire staff at the Asheville VA Medical Center and Hospice.
