Obituary of Bernice Lazelle Davis

Bernice Cabe Davis, 92, of Bryson City, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 24, 2017. A native of Macon County, she was the daughter of the late Dorothy and Thomas Cabe. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William G. Davis and son, Thomas C. Davis; three sisters, Nellie Henson, Lassie Ward, Myrtle Lowery; two brothers, Roy Cabe and Harold Cabe. Bernice is survived by sons, William G. Davis, Jr. (Kyra) of Raleigh and Mark S. Davis (Susie) of Bryson City; five grandchildren, Brett Davis, Derek Davis, Sarah Davis, Joanna Reiman, Stephanie Presley and one great grandchild Emily Presley; a god daughter, Jody Rentz; and Georgianna Carson and Alva Winchester of whom she considered her daughters. Bernice was an active member of Bryson City Methodist Church where she served as a book keeper for many years. Her church was a huge part of her life. She loved attending every service and singing in the choir. She worked over 25 years in the medical profession for Dr. Mitchell, Dr. Moore and Dr. Dimsdale. As well as working outside the home, Bernice took extreme pride in taking care of her home and family. She was well known for her delicious cooking, especially her coconut cakes. Spending time with her many friends and family was at the top of her list. Her bubbly personality and infectious laughter made Bernice a popular neighbor and friend to many. The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 3:00 pm at Bryson City Methodist Church on Tuesday, June 27, 2017. Funeral will be held at 3:00 pm at the church.
