Infectious laugh is so true. Bernice always had a smile on her face. As a youngster, we would run into the house to see what she was cooking. As an adult, I would stop by just to talk. In her last days, I saw her frequently at Mtn. View and she was happy. What a gift and she will be sorely missed by many....me included. She influenced me in many ways!

My heartfelt sympathy to Bernice's family.
She was a wonderful and caring friend of mine going back to the mid-50s. I first met her when I worked for Bill as a student trainee with the Soil Conservation Service. She helped me prepare for my first hike into Hazel Creek.
Bernice was a gracious lady who loved everyone she met and shared her faith by living it in our presence.
Her love and service to her church family were always apparent to those around her.
Rest in peace, dear lady! God is not the only one who LOVES you.

Bill, Mark and families,
So sorry I am unable to be with Bernice's family at this time. Your Mom was such a special kind, loving, generous person. Our entire family had many delightful fun filled times with your parents. Bernice excelled as a hostess and cook. She always had a beautiful smile on her face and warm welcoming hugs. We were privileged to be included in her extended family.
Please accept our deepest sympathy at this time. Take solace in how many loved and cared for her.
Love,
Mitzi Eckstein Twine

I regret I am unable be with the family at this time to express my special fondness for Bernice. Over the years we enjoyed numerous good times locally, during holidays and trips to Raleigh. I always considered her a favorite since she adopted me when I was but a Sophomore moving to Bryson City.

Gary and I are so very sorry to hear of Aunt Bernice's passing. She was a wonderful person and my favorite Aunt. I still can still hear her laugh and see the twinkle in her eyes and oh, the best creamed corn and coconut cake ever. She is at peace but I will remember a beautiful lady.
With love and may God give you strength and peace at this most difficult time.
