Obituary of Gary David Sitton

Gary D. Sitton, a lifelong outdoorsman, died unexpectedly on April 29th, 2016 at the age of 61 while at home. Gary is survived by his sisters Noranda Buchanan (James) and Sharon Walker (Jim), his wife Marion Sitton, his son David Sitton (Cami) and one grandson, Mead Sitton. He is predeceased by his parents Ed and Ethel Sitton. Gary was born in Bryson City, NC on August 20th, 1954. At the age of 6, he and his family moved to Brevard, NC. His childhood in the mountains of North Carolina instilled a lifelong love for the outdoors. Gary saw much of the country and the world, initially through his military service from 1972-1975 and later through personal pursuits that included trips to Europe, Africa, Asia, and backpacking and skiing across countless mountain ranges throughout the Rockies. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him. A funeral service is scheduled for 1:00 on Wednesday May 4th at Crisp Funeral Home in Bryson City, NC. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Friends of the Smokies whose aim is to protect the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The family will receive friends from 11:30 AM until 1:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
