Obituary of Ronald Frank Baines

Ronald (Ronnie) Frank Baines, 63, of the Alarka Community, went home to be with his parents on Wednesday, March 2, 2016. A lifelong resident of Swain County, he was the son of the late Frank (Pappy) and Bonnie Jones Baines.
A 1971 graduate of Swain County High School he pursued a career in Underground Construction, and became a skilled Miner. His career was cut short due to a tragic mining accident in 1976. Ronnie was an avid sportsman. His interest included hunting, fishing and sports. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.
Ronnie is survived by his children Benji R. Baines and Beau S. Baines and wife Kacey; three grandchildren, Dalton Rigdon, Wesson Baines and Layne Baines; two great grandchildren, Gabriel Rigdon and Julian Rigdon; one sister Opal Barker and husband Ronnie; one brother Wayne Baines and wife Cindy; several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
A memorial services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday April 16, 2016, at the Chapel of Crisp Funeral Home. Rev. Max Cochran will officiate.
