Obituary of Paul Owen

Paul Owen, 62, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, March 28, 2010 at his residence. A native of Poughkeepsie, NY, he was the son of the late Harold and Patience Belding Owen. He had lived in Bryson City for 24 years. He was a member of the Whittier United Methodist Church where he sang in the choir. He was preceded in death by a brother, Peter Owen. He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Dorothy Owen; two sons, Paul Owen, Jr, Robert Read both of Deltona, FL; three daughters, Kara Purtell and husband Robert, Kristi Hudson and husband John both of Deltona, FL, and Kasandra Owen Banegas of Atlanta, GA; 10 grandchildren, Kathy, Jazmine, and Catalena Read, Zachary and Connor Owen, Brandon, Joshua, and Kaitlyn Purtell, and Adam and Ashley Hudson. Also surviving are two special friends, Kirsten Carroll, Victoria Drew; his dog, Gizmo; his Methodist Church family in Whittier; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Al and Linda Vaughn; and several uncles, aunts, and cousins. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Whittier United Methodist Church. Rev. David Baxter will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Crisp Funeral Home and from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Thursday at the church. At other times, the family will be at the Vaughn Residence, 203 Battle Street, Bryson City, NC 28713
