Clara Mashburn Hancock, 82, of the Silvermine Community went home to be with the Lord Thursday January 7, 2016 in a Swain County Hospital. A native of Swain County she was the daughter of the late Larce and Almer Holden Mashburn and wife of the late Joe Hancock. She was preceded in death by her sister Linda Jenkins and brother Conrad Mashburn. She is survived by four children, sons Garry Hancock of Bryson City, Tony Hancock (Linda) of High Point, NC; daughters Teresa Hancock of the home and Christy Birchfield (Lynn) of Bryson City; six grandchildren Adam Hancock (Jacqui) of Ann Arbor, MI, Jonathan Hancock of Canton, NC, Steven Hancock of High Point, NC, Amber Birchfield of Bryson City, Megan Hancock of High Point, NC, and Constance Grant (Nathan) of Bryson City; two great grandchildren Rebekah and Waya; sister Dellene Evans (Gene) of Bryson City, Ella Mae Mashburn of Clayton, GA, special sister-in-law Ginger Rutherford and special brother-in-law Carrall Jenkins. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM Saturday in the Chapel of Crisp Funeral Home. Dr. Larry Spencer will officiate. Burial will be in the WNC State Veterans Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Friday at the Funeral Home.
