Obituary of Jerome Roscoe Lindsey

A tragic accident took the life of long time resident, and retired employee of the Town of Bryson City, Jerome Roscoe Lindsey, on January 1, 2016. Roscoe spent many years working on, and later supervising a maintenance crew for the City. It was not uncommon to see him in a "foxhole" performing routine or emergency maintenance, whatever the situation called for. Many times that work had to be completed in inclement weather, and could be during the day or night. He took a lot of pride in doing his job and doing it well. Roscoe was a true character with a great sense of humor who lived life simply, enjoying storytelling, riding his motorcycle, playing his guitar, gardening, working on his home and property which he cherished, and serving others wherever and whenever he could. Roscoe graduated Swain County High School. He was a veteran who served in the United States Marine Corps during the Viet Nam Campaign. Roscoe was 65 years old, the son of Lawson Lindsey (deceased) and Marymae Lindsey whom he leaves behind. He also leaves behind his Fiancée, Kasey Pittard, and her son whom he mentored for 6 years, Nicholi Nazare. His sister Arbannah Holland, brother John Irvin Lindsey, son Aaron Lindsey, and daughter Ashley Lindsey-Craig. His niece and neighbors Lindsey Konieczka, and her husband , Jason Konieczka. Roscoe will truly be missed by all those who knew and loved him. Goodbye good friend. There will be a memorial service this Saturday, January 9th at 1:00pm at the Crisp Funeral Home in Bryson City. Following the service there will be a gathering at Deep Creek Baptist Church, all are welcome.
