Obituary of Ruth Ann Barnes

Ruth Burnette Barnes, 90, or the Brush Creek Community went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, September 8, 2015 in a Swain County Health Care Facility. A native of Swain County, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Mary Queen Burnette and wife of the late Willard (Bill) Barnes. She was the oldest member of Brush Creek Baptist Church. She devoted her life to the care of children until they started school. In addition to her parents and husband she is also preceded in death by six brothers Grade, Clint, Fred, Ed, Don, and Jay Burnette, and four sisters Gladys Laws, Banna Barnes, Lizzie Davis, and Lexie Summers. She is survived by one daughter Patsy Hill of Bryson City, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday in the Chapel of Crisp Funeral Home. Revs. Jim Cochran and G.D. Phillips will officiate with burial in Swain Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 PM Friday at the Funeral Home.
