Obituary of Edith Ellen Southards

Edith Southards, 91, a native of Bryson City went peacefully home to be with the Lord on Monday, June 8, 2015 in a local nursing home after a period of declining health. She was born October 21, 1923 to Charlie Waldroup and Alice Bates Waldroup Penion.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, two daughters-in-law, one son-in-law, one great great grandchild, and her husband Ralph Southards.
She is survived by two daughters, Wanda Barker Floyd of Whittier, NC and Linda Keener of Bryson City, NC; two sons, Buddy Southards of Lampasas, TX and Larry Southards of Cumming, GA; eight grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; special son-in-law, Roger Barker; several cousins and many friends. She was a member of Sawmill Hill Freewill Baptist Church.
Visitation will be Friday from 7 to 9 pm and the funeral will be Saturday at 11:00 am at Crisp Funeral Home with Jimmy Lambert and Gerald McGaha officiating. Burial will be at Grave Gap Cemetery.
Crisp Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
