Obituary of Clarence Mills

Clarence (C.J.) Mills, Jr. of the Stecoah community in Robbinsville, N.C., age 80 went home to be with his Lord on May 29, 2015. He is a member and past Deacon of Panther Creek Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Willie Mae Mills and his parents Clarence F. Mills and Mae Bell Neice Mills.
He leaves two daughters, Lee Quigley (Jim) of Thomaston, GA, Debra Brooks of Sylva, NC and a son, James Navin of Aiken, SC, a sister Viola Williamson of Canton, NC, nephews David Williamson of Canton and Eugene Williamson of Aiken, SC, grandchildren Bobbi Lee Bennett of Whittier, NC, Tony Morgan of Leesburg, VA, James, Justin, Kenneth, and Jon Brooks of Sylva, NC and Christine Navin of NY, and numerous great-grandchildren.
Most of his life he enjoyed Lake Fontana and outdoor life. He was a previous owner of Greasy Branch Boat Dock and more recently worked at Prince Boat Dock. He loved studying the history of the area prior to the building of Fontana Dam and studying Indian folklore both locally and nationally. He served his country as a member of the 101st Airborne Division of the U.S. Army.
Visitation will be from 1-2 PM on Monday, June 1, 2015 at Crisp Funeral Home in Bryson City, NC followed by the service and burial at Swain Memorial Park in Bryson City.
Reverends Charles Ray Ball and Randy Collins will officiate.
