Obituary of Bill Styles

Bill Styles, 75, of Bryson City went home to be with the Lord Wednesday May 20, 2015 in a Jackson County health care facility. A native of Swain County, he was the son of the late Lawson and Helen Cline Styles. He was preceded in death by sisters; Della Bright and Catherine Winchester; brothers; James Styles and Edgar Styles. He was Swain County Commissioner from 1984 till 1988, Swain County Sheriff's Chief Deputy for many years; a 32nd degree mason with the Oconee Masonic Lodge and a member of the Shriners. He was a Volunteer Firefighter in Swain County and a self -employed construction worker. He was an award winning breeder and shower of Racking Horses. He was a member of Midway Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife Helen Carson Styles; daughter Kay Styles Rowland and husband Joey of the Nantahala Community, two sons, Ed Styles and wife Brenda of Franklin, William Styles and wife Brooke of Bryson City; step children, Sarah Crisp and husband Greg of Bryson City, Susan Sale and Husband Mark of Bryson City; grandchildren, Amy, Jake, Tanner, Makayla, Emory, Tiffany, Jon, Tim, and Lydia; great grandchild, Jacob and his brother Paul Styles of Bryson City; and many loved nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 5:00 PM Saturday at Midway Baptist Church. Rev. Doyce Waters and Rev. Mark Sale will officiate with burial in the Carson Family Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM Saturday at the Church.
