Obituary of Viola Bridges Brendle
Viola Bridges Brendle, 86, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, January 11, 2012 in a Buncombe County Hospital. Born in Swain County on July 12, 1925, she lived most of her life on Alarka. She was the daughter of the late Robert and Lucy Cochran Bridges and wife of the late Zeb Thomas Brendle, Sr. She was a member of Mt. Vernon Freewill Baptist Church. Mrs. Brendle worked for Tuckasegee Mills for 12 years and at Mountain View Manor Nursing Center.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Judy Ellen Brendle Jones; two grandsons; one great grandson; and eight brothers and sisters.
She is survived by four children, Betty Jane Brendle Wilson of Bryson City, Zeb Thomas Brendle, Jr. of Alabama, Jody Christene Brendle Pait of Youngville, NC, Jeanette Ann Bendle of Cherokee; 18 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; 11 great great grandchildren; one sister, Jean Brady of Bryson City; and brother, Dave Bridges of Romney, W. Virginia.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Crisp Funeral Home. Rev. Marty Pressley will officiate with burial in Brendle Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
