Anita V. Mitchell, 91, passed away peacefully the evening of Sunday, February 22, 2015 at Ridgecrest Nursing Center in DeLand, Florida. She was preceded by her husband in 2001, Vernie V. Mitchell “Mitch,” they were married 60 years. Anita and Mitch made Tobacco Branch Village their home for more than 40 years, they loved the Smokey Mountain way-of-life and the people. Anita was born on June 18, 1923 in Peine, Germany. She loved being with family and friends, cooking big meals for everyone, growing pansies, basket weaving and living in Tobacco Branch. Anita was a member at First Baptist of Robbinsville and enjoyed working in the nursery. She is survived by her sister Reta Esco of Jacksonville, Florida, daughters Anita Louise Epperson and Brenda Sue Green, spouse Douglas Green. She had four grandchildren, Robert Epperson, Susanne Huber, Brian Epperson and Stasia Cafaro. Anita also had five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. Anita’s service will be held at the Crisp Funeral Home on Saturday, February 28, 2015 at 2 p.m. Noah Crow of First Baptist of Robbinsville will be officiating.
