Obituary of Cleo Elizabeth Carpenter

Cleo Cochran Carpenter, 82, of the Alarka Community went home to be with the Lord Friday, January 9, 2015 in a Buncombe County Hospital. A native of Swain County, she was the daughter of the late William "Bill" T. and Nannie Simonds Cochran. She was a member of Alarka Baptist Church and the Bryson City Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She was an avid gardener, canner and cook. She is survived by her husband of 36 years Burlin Carpenter; one sister Ruth Cochran Carpenter of Bryson City; two nieces, Lori Jenkins and family Russell, Erin and Will of Bryson City, and Kim Carpenter and family Alec and Maddie of Bryson City, and one step daughter, Brenda Williams of Andrews. Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday in the Chapel of Crisp Funeral Home. Revs. John Tagliarini, and Jeff Waldroup will officiate with burial in Swain Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 3:00 PM Sunday at the Funeral Home.
