Obituary of Dockie Thomas Brendle

Dockie Thomas Brendle, 70, of Bryson City, went home to be with the Lord Saturday December 28, 2014 in a Swain County Hospital. A native of Swain County, he was the son of the late George Thomas and Belzie Franklin Brendle. Dockie was a U.S. Army Veteran having served in Vietnam receiving three Purple Hearts, Combat Infantry Badge, Presidential Unit Citation, Vietnam Service Medal with three bronze Stars, Vietnam Galantry Cross and a Vietnam Campaign Medal. He was a member and past commander of the Bryson City VFW Post 9281, and a life member of Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 994 in Franklin, NC. He was preceded in death by three brothers Fonzie Brendle of Bryson City, Edward Brendle of Bryson City, and Stanley Brendle of Franklin, and one sister Vivian Cody of Stecoah.
He is survived by two sisters, Ethel Osborne of Bryson City, and Wanda Ball of Franklin, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday in the Chapel of Crisp Funeral Home. Rev. Max Cochran will officiate. Burial will be in the Brendle Hill Cemetery with military graveside rites being conducted by the Bryson City VFW Post 9281.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 9:00 PM Tuesday at the Funeral Home.
