Obituary of Vanoye Freeman Douthit

Vanoye Freeman Douthit, 87, of the Brush Creek Community went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, July 13, 2011 at her residence. A native of Swain County, she was the daughter of the late Graden and Geneva McHan Freeman and wife of the late Harold Douthit. She retired from Belks Department Store with over 25 years of employment. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Diane Shuler; sister, Fern Freeman; and two brothers, Dexter and W.J. Freeman. She is survived by one daughter, Rometta Steward of Cherokee; two sons, Eugene Douthit and wife Pam of Bryson City, William Harold Douthit, Jr. and wife Carolyn of Winder, GA; eight grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Crisp Funeral Home. Revs. Clifford Willis and Matthew Shuler will officiate with burial in Tabor Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. The family would like to thank Harris Hospice for their care and support.
