Obituary of Joann Searcy Henderson

Whittier Dateline: Joann Searcy Henderson, age 70, passed away peacefully on "Mother's Day", May 8th, 2011 surrounded by her daughter Sherry, son-in-law Jeff and her two grandchildren Kyle and Brooklyn. Born in Transylvania County she spent most of her life in Haywood County before moving to Whittier to be close to grandchildren and for help with her fight against cancer. She was preceded in death by her parents Otis Lee Searcy and Ella Mae Anders Searcy, also by her sister Katherine Searcy Queen. Survivors include daughters Sherry Mathews and husband Jeff, Crystal Henderson; one son David Henderson and wife Kathey; one brother Bobby Searcy and wife Phyllis; one sister Helen Searcy James, and grandchildren Kyle and Brooklyn Mathews. She was a member of Center Pigeon Baptist Church in Canton since 1966, finding peace with God in her final days. Her work was that of a homemaker, then a CNA.
