Obituary of Robert Henry Ross

Cherokee Dateline Robert Henry Ross, 76, of the Birdtown Community passed away Sunday Morning, January 17, 2010 at Cherokee Indian Hospital. He was the son of the late McKinley and Lily Mae Cagle Wahnetah. He was also preceded in death by two daughters, Frances Ross and Vicky Keaton and his first wife, Frances Vivian Wahnetah Ross. He started out as a laborer and worked his way up to assistant manager of Unto These Hills Drama until he was unable to work anymore. He was an avid Bear Hunter. He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Vivian Saunooke Ross; four sons, John Ross, Raymond Ross, Donald Ross, and Sean Ross all of Cherokee; ten grandchildren; four step children, Kathy Bradley, Vicki Medford, Linda Medford, and Ricky Medford all of Cherokee; six step grandchildren; and three sisters, Mary Visage of Georgia, Jessie Swimmer of Cherokee, and Ester McCoy of Waynesville. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Crisp Funeral Home. Revs. James (Bo) Parris and Rolan Whitaker will officiate with burial in the Birdtown Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
