I am so sad to hear about Steve. He was such a fun young man when I taught him in fifth grade. I enjoyed knowing him as well as all of you other boys. I know he leaves an empty place in your hearts. I will keep you and your mother in my prayers. Saying good-by for awhile to one so young is hard. I hope being together as a family will comfort each of you as you share your special memories of Steve. Love from "Ms. Roos"

My heart goes out to your family at this time. I knew Steve in high school and remember his glowing smile and bear hugs! My mother also taught him in elementary school. I know Steve will be remembered fondly and missed by many. May God provide comfort and strength to you all during this difficult time. Godspeed, my friend.

It was so good to see Raby several yrs ago. He came to my son Michael Moody''s birthday party that was held in Sylva NC. He is a friend of all 4 of my boys, Tony, Gregory, Christopher and dtr Melanie Moody. He has been to my home in Glenville NC many times when the boys were in school. I want to tell the family that I am praying for you all because at times like this only God can truly help you each individually. We can comfort one another but God is a friend who sticketh closer than a brother. He will never leave you nor forsake you. Love, Lydia

I am saddened to hear of the passing of Steve, and extend my condolences to his family in this time of sorrow. I can remember Steve as far back as I can remember anyone else, in the small group that went all through school together. You couldn't miss the big guy with an even bigger smile on his face. He will be greatly missed now…

My thoughts and prayers go out to your family. I knew Steve in high school, and I have always considered him a friend, ever since the first day of jv football when he flattened me in football practice and then extended a hand to get up. Although I have not seen Steve in several years, I will always remember him as a kind soul. Sincerely, Nathan Frizzell

Dear Family..It was good that I ran into Raby just before my brother, Michael's, 40th surprise birthday party 2yrs ago. I invited him & told him time & place & Raby came. It was a good time as I and a lot of the others at the party had not seen him in a little while. We reminisced about a lot of the fun times we had spent over the years. We met through school & became good friends. I wish I could be there for the family as I do care deeply. I am unable to make it & am sad that the situation cannot be avoided for I am not close to where you live. I want you to know that I pray for yawl for I can only imagine the pain that this has caused you, the family. I know the pain I feel at my loss of a good friend--41 is just too young. May God keep you as only HE can. Trust God & HE will help you. Ask & you shall receive. Love, Gregory Moody

I knew Steve for a long time. He will be greatly missed. Such a shame he had to go at such a young age. I will always remember him from our days in the housing project and also from Sylva Webster.

Heavy heart in the hearing of Raby's passing. We were Sylva Webster High School buddies. Always a protective, big brother to me. If I ever had a bad day, I could curl up in his big arms and everything would be ok. I am so sorry for all of the loved ones he left behind, as I am sure there are many. My prayers will be with you all now and the days to come, for you to find some comfort in your loss. I know you will truly miss him. Bless you and know that God has welcomed Raby into his arms. God Bless......
