Tom was a very special man and the finest pastor that we ever had the honor of knowing. My son and I loved him dearly. If any man is in heaven I know that Tom is..when I worked at the hospital he was a familiar sight to so many people in need. Tom never stopped or slowed down in helping people and doing God's work. I am sorry to hear of his passing and wish to extend my sympathies to his family. God Bless all of you..

To Tom's family, We are truly sorry for your loss. We know from Tom's life and ministry that he had prepared for this departure. He touched the lives of more people than even he knew. He was always glad to meet a new friend and always smiled with a twinkle in his eyes. All the wonderful, good and kind deeds that he did while he was among us will live on in the people's lives. He was a special friend to us and we were blessed to have known him. May God bless you, his family.

Ms. Emily, Roslyn and Craig,
I was so sorry to hear of Preacher Tom's passing. I was upset when I heard and a friend of mine reminded me that if any one would be in heaven now it would be Preacher Tom. Take solice in the fact that he is home with the Creater of all. Where there are no more tears or crying. His life was filled with service to the Lord and a great love for his family. Swain County has lost their pastor but heaven has gained a truly great man. I pray God will fill the void in your lives with his love and understanding. Hold close your memories of him and the love that he had for you, till you see him again someday. Gabe and my thoughts are with you all

Bro. Tom sat on my ordination committee in 2000 and I was honored to have known him as both a preacher and friend. I know he layed down a path that is going to be tough for young preachers to live up to as many called him the pastor for WNC. I hold him as a hero of the faith. It was my privilege to have had him preach for me on 11-22-09 just before Thanksgiving. Macedonia Baptist Church is praying for you that God will comfort you and strengthen the family.

Even though he will be greatly missed by all, Brother Tom is now celebrating his homecoming with God! He often spoke of that wonderful place and now he has had the priviledge of meeting God and strolling the streets of gold! We have memories of him that will last until we can meet Brother Tom and Jesus together! Our love to all of you.

Bro. Tom Harris was a blessing to us and our family. He was our pastor and friend for approximately twenty-seven years. He was loved by all. He never passed anyone by--he always had time for everyone. He was not only our pastor, he was Western NC's pastor. The sermons, lessons, laughs, stories which he shared will live on in the lives of those he touched and that was many, many people. We love Bro. Tom. He was a great influence on us and our boys. He will be greatly missed in this county, but what he has left behind will live on forever!

Dear Emily and Family,
Words cannot express what Bro. Tom meant to me through the years as a friend and fellow preacher. He had a special gift of encouraging young preachers and used that gift to encourage and strengthen me through the years. His heart for people, the ministry in general and his special love for missions set an example that we should all strive to achieve. He often had a special encouraging word just for me when I was in my deepest trials. I loved him and will always remember him with heartfelt emotion. He will be greatly missed but not forgotten.
Your friend and brother,
Jimmy L. Park

There are no words to express how I feel about you and your beloved husband/father/grandfather "Preacher Tom". The world has lost a great saint, but Heaven has gained the most faithful Christian servant I have ever known. We all love this man and your family. He has been a part of so many weddings, funerals, Baptisms, and family reunions. He leaves a void for each of you that no earthly person can fill but I pray God will comfort you and keep you safe. I am sure he heard the words well done thy good and faithful servant. I treasure each of you and pray that God will ease your sadness and lonliness.
