CLARENCE DAVID HAINES, 88, of the Conleys Creek Community in Whittier, NC, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday January 5, 2010. Born March 3, 1921 in Randolph County, Missouri, he was the son of the late Clarence Blue and Maggie Finklin Haines. Though being a native of Missouri he had lived in Swain County most of his life. He was a retired WWII US Navy Veteran and proudly served with the US Seabees during the war in the south pacific. He was honorably discharged as a 1st class petty officer after proudly serving his country. He was of the Presbyterian Faith. He is survived by his wife of 68 years Opal Marie Courrier Haines 1 Son- Robert Earl Haines and his wife Shirley of Lakeland, Fla 4 Grandchildren- Gay Ann Kelly, Robert Earl Haines Jr., Cynthia Marie Aqui and Christopher David Haines- all of Lakeland, Fla 1 Sister- Betty Overfelt Brown of Huntsville, MO. Great Grandchildren- Katie, Nathan, Lily, Justin, Hunter, Ethan, Bria, Emily, Grace, Will and Christian Mr Haines did so much for his family and will greatly missed by his entire family and his many friends
