Obituary of Ethel Irene Johnson Sitton

Ethel Irene Johnson Sitton died at her home January 17, 2011 surrounded by her family in body and spirit and in their caring arms. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Ed James Sitton and her brother, Reeves Johnson. She is survived by her children Noranda Sitton Buchanan and her husband James of Mt. Holly, NC, Sharon Sitton Walker and her husband Jim of Charlotte, NC, her son, Gary David Sitton and his wife Marion of Huntersville, NC and a grandson, David Edward Sitton of Davidson, NC; three step grandchildren, James Walker, Jr., Mary Kathryn Walker, and John Michael Walker; and four step great grandchildren. She is also survived by her two brothers, Ray Johnson of Durham, NC and Clayton Johnson of Kannapolis, NC. She was the daughter of the late Lonnie Jarvis Johnson and Mary Charlotte Wiggins Johnson of Bryson City, NC and was born there on December 11, 1930. She then lived in Brevard, NC from 1960 until 2001 when she moved to Mt. Holly, NC to be near her children and lived there until her death. Her strong faith and loving and vibrant nature were always such a gift to her family and her friends and her unfailing support and encouragement to others in their faith will be remembered by many. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Crisp Funeral Home. Revs. Jeff Taylor and Morris Davis will officiate with burial in Holly Springs Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Hephzibah Children's Home, 6601 Zebulon Road, Macon, GA 31220-7606.
