Obituary of Edna Lenora Sutton

Edna DeHart (Granny) Sutton, 90, of the Needmore Community, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, November 8, 2014 in a Swain County health care facility. A native of Swain County she was the daughter of the late Charlie and Pearl Potts DeHart, and wife of the late Lloyd Sutton. She was a charter member of the Hightower Baptist Church. She worked at the Nantahala Village for 27 years and many years at Everett Street Diner. She was preceded in death by her sisters Pauline Sutton, Maude Yarborough, Mae McHan, Nancy King, and Lula Collins, and brothers, Richmond and Buron DeHart, and Everett Wikle. She is survived by two daughters, Emma Waldroup and husband Lenard of Bryson City, and Kimberly Lequire and friend Melvin Jones of Bryson City; three grandchildren, Jeff and Jon Waldroup, and Ted Sutherland; six great grandchildren, Dalton, Mathew, Jacob, and Jessie Waldroup, and Colton and Riley Wike. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday at Hightower Baptist Church. Revs. Jeff Waldroup, Emory Brooks and Max Cochran will officiate with burial in the Lauada Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 9:00 PM Monday at Crisp Funeral Home where the body will remain until placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service.
