Obituary of Keith Max Calhoun

Keith Max Calhoun, 75, of Bryson City, NC went home to his Jesus Monday morning, October 20, 2014 at North Carolina State Veterans Home in Black Mountain with his family by his side. He was a loving faithful husband to Irma Jean Smith Calhoun, father to Angela Cabe and granddawg Precious.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years Irma Jean Smith Calhoun; a daughter Angela Cabe of Leicester; one brother James Calhoun and wife Evelyn of Bryson City; nephew Jim Calhoun and wife Lisa of Zebulon, NC; Neice Lyron Shook and husband Doug of Stern, NC; five cousins; two great nephews; two great nieces and four great great nephews. He was the son of the late Forester and Ruby Calhoun. A graduate of Swain High School, and Nashville Auto-Diesel College. Mr. Calhoun was a Navy Veteran, a Boiler Maker, Welder and Heavy Equipment operator.
He loved gospel and country music, which he played on the steel guitar. He was a member of Victory Baptist Church where he loved to sing in the choir.
Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM Friday in the Chapel of Victory Baptist Church. Interment will be at the Lauada Cemetery beside his father.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 PM at the Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the NC State Veterans Home, 62 Lake Eden Road, Black Mountain, NC 28711, or to the Sweet Thoughts Alzheimer's Group, PO Box 1381, Bryson City, NC 28713
The family expresses a special thank you to the staff of North Carolina State Veterans Home at Black Mountain for the loving care they gave to Keith and their support to his family.
