Obituary of Leona Arrella Kirkland

Leona McMahan Kirkland, 64, of Bryson City, went home to be with the Lord, Monday October 20, 2014 in a Jackson County Hospital. A native of Swain County, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Tempie Marler McMahan. She was preceded in death by her son, Scottie Kirkland, and five siblings.
She is survived by four children, Sophia, Sandy, Samuel, and Shane; 11 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; five sisters, Linda McMahan DeHart, Shelby McMahan Garcia, Vivian McMahan Harverson, Elaine McMahan Conners, Glenda McMahan Messer; three brothers, Roger McMahan, Wade McMahan, Lester McMahan; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday in the Chapel of Crisp Funeral Home. Rev. Lloyd Brown will officiate with burial in the Thomas Chapel Cemetery.
Family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
