Obituary of Rachel Ann Sutton

Rachel Ann Reed Sutton went home to be with the Lord on July 1, 2014 after a period of declining health. She was born June 30, 1940 in Sylva, NC, the daughter of Grady and Delia Reed, and was married for 50 years to the late Harold Sutton. She was also preceded in death by a brother Lyndon Reed. Rachel was employed by Mountain View Manor Nursing Center, as the dietary manager for 36 years. She loved her job, her co-workers, and was a dedicated, valued employee. Cooking and providing meals for church, family, and friends was one of her favorite things to do. She was a faithful member of Arlington Baptist Church for many years, and coordinated hundreds of meals for the church and other families. She especially liked to cook and have gatherings for her family. Some of her best known desserts were cakes, chocolate marshmallow brownies, and cream cheese braids. She loved going on beach trips and shopping. Family was especially important to her. She cherished time spent with her children and grandchildren. She is survived by one sister, Wanda Moss of Cullowhee, two brothers, Winston Reed of Cullowhee, and Doyle Reed of Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. Her surviving children are Tom Sutton and wife Deanne of Bryson City, Tim Sutton and wife Robin of Benson, NC, Terry Sutton and wife Connie, and Tony Sutton and wife Lisa of Bryson City. She doted on her grandchildren: Nolan Sutton of Fort Hood, Texas, Laurie Bailey of Bryson City, Erin DeHart of Whittier, Cory Sutton of Bryson City, Megan Fuqua of Graham, NC, Rachel Sutton of Benson, NC, Callie Sutton of Bryson City, Maggie Sutton of Bryson City, Trevor Sutton of Benson, NC, Gracie Sutton of Bryson City, and Matthew and Valerie Finch of Bryson City. She adored her great-grandchildren Dorsey and Blakely Bailey of Bryson City and Zachery and Sophie Fuqua of Graham, NC. She also had many nieces and nephews that she loved dearly, as well as, her best friend Mary Burrell. Services include visitation at Crisp Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 2nd at 6:00 pm. And the funeral at Arlington Baptist Church on Thursday, July 3rd at 11:00 am.
