Members of the McKinney family--My life's path crossed with Ruth's twice--as a boy who spent considerable time up Bryson Branch way and then, many decades later, when she attended talks I gave on a couple of occasions. What stands out, never mind the intervening time of the better part of a half century, is that Ruth McKinney epitomized all that is good, gracious, and enduring about staunch women of the Smokies. She lived an exemplary life, raised her family right, and always wore a smile. In your time of sorrow thinking back on that life well lived should give you comfort.

May God's grace and love be upon all of you, Jerry, Dona, Janice, Gina and all the grandchildren. I pray that He will comfort you and give you peace. May His guiding hand lead every step through this valley in your life. I know Ruth would be saying, "Don't worry, it will be alright." She is smiling down upon you now and sending her love to you. I'm so sorry that I could not be there with you today, but rest assured, my prayers and love are being sent your way. I love each one of you! Ruth was an inspiration to me in so many ways. I will always love and cherish her memory!

We are so sorry for your loss. I know there will be a void in the hearts of all the family. I only met her a few times, but each time was a joy. The first time was probably when Glenn was in the hospital in Augusta Ga. the other's were the times she was in the Beech Mountian area visiting. We were at the memorial service when Uncle Jenning was brought back from California.
Please know that all of your family are in our thoughts and prayer's.

I so admired Ruth McKinney; she was such a kind person and showed interest in others. I enjoyed my visits with her when she would drop by the office at FLE to see Jerry on occasion. My sympathy to all of your family for her loss.

The McGuire Family mourns the loss of Ruth. We fondly remember her visits to the Beech Mountain Area to attend various family functions. We also remember expressions of love for her family from earlier generations of the family. My Dad, Hurst McGuire, often talked about his big brother Jennings and told some interesting stories about their escapades. Ruth will be missed by all family and friends.

May God watch over each of you during this time of sorrow. I loved cousin Ruth all my life like a mother. She was a wonderful soldier of God, an Angel, she was the most caring, loving, true christain that I have ever known. I spent many many nights growing up staying in her home with Janice and always had a wonderful time with the family. I always went to visit Ruth when I was in Bryson or took my daddy to see her. She always had a meal cooked for us when we went to visit. All those wonderful memories of Ruth will be cherished in my heart forever! I am sorry that I won't be able to attend the funeral but know that I will be there with all the family/kin in spirit. Ruth is rejoicing in Heaven with my parents and Buddie and all the other family that has passed on. Prayers are with each of you and love to all of the family. Love, Cousin Pam

Ruth was an exemplary christian lady. We should all strive to be more like her. I will remember her for being so faithful to the church, teaching a class or singing in the choir with that beautiful alto voice and always being there to offer comfort in sickness or death of a family member. Praying that all your family can find some peace and comfort in knowing that others care and will miss her. Our loss is Heaven''s gain.

Dear Jerry and Norma,
Was so sorry to hear about your mom. She definitely was a fighter. We loved her and it was always a pleasure to see her out in town and of course eatting out. We will not be able to attend the funeral as we are in Asheville doing treatments and have appointments on Thursday in Franklin. Please let us know if there is anything we can do for you. I was going to call you (on your cell) but your number was in my old phone. Couldn't reach you at your house. I did call Doris and get an update on your mom while she was in the hospital. Just know we care and are praying for you during this time. Love you, Danny and Teressa Sweet
