Obituary of Maxine Cline

Maxine Conley Cline, 76, of Whittier passed away Friday, June 13, 2014 in a Buncombe County hospital. A native of Swain County, she was the daughter of the late Clyde and Charlotte Elizabeth Wells Conley. She was a successful local business woman and realtor and had a deep understanding of both, the land and the people she worked with. She was the former owner of Qualla Motel and most recent owner of Smoky Mountain Real Estate. She was a proud member of the Eastern Star and in her younger years, a member of local drama clubs where she participated in local theater. She was preceded in death by her niece, Terri Core. She is survived by two daughters, April Cline of St. Paul, Minnesota, and Angie Cline of Santa Fe, New Mexico; one sister, Virginia Williams of Baton Rouge, LA; and lifelong best friend, Darlene Whitetree of Cherokee. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday in the chapel of Crisp Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Whittier Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 until 8 pm Monday at the funeral home.
