Obituary of Samuel Lee Maney

Samuel Lee Maney, 48, of the Yellowhill Community, went home to be with the Lord, Friday, May 23, 2014 in a Cherokee Hospital. A native of Cherokee, he was the son of Charlotte Maney of Cherokee and the late Norman Maney. He was a member of the Yellowhill Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran and he was a firefighter with the BIA Forestry Department. He was a member of the Qualla Arts and Crafts Mutual. He was the grandson of the late Sam and Cora Wahneetah. In addition to his mother he is survived by one sister, Melissa Maney; two nephews, Jarrett Wildcatt, and Anthony Lansing; two aunts, Margaret French and husband Gary, and Lois Pensavalla, and several cousins. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday at Yellowhill Baptist Church. Rev. James (Red) Bradley will officiate. Burial will be in the Yellowhill Veterans Cemetery with military graveside rites being conducted by the Steve Youngdeer American Legion Post #143. The family will receive friends from 4 until 8:00 PM Sunday at the Church. Crisp Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
