Obituary of James Payson Ball
James Payson Ball
James "Payson" Ball, 38, of the Deep Creek Community of Bryson City died unexpectedly Sunday, March 16th, of a stomach aneurysm.
A native of Swain County, he lived most of his life in Bryson City. As a youth, he was an avid sports player. He excelled in both football and basketball. He spent time in the great outdoors; whether it be tubing, hiking, fishing, swimming or boating. He often hunted. During his life experience, his adventurous work consisted of loading freight trailers, asphalt paver, professional lawn service, home construction, forestry spraying, and Class A Tree Climber. A lifelong Denver Broncos fan, he liked watching games with his family. Music of all genres was a big part of his life. He was a proud father of his children and enjoyed spending time with them. He lived life with a great passion; always sporting a smile with eyes that sparkled.
He is the son of Billy Ball and Diann Wright Ball. He was preceded in death by maternal grandparents; Mack and Ruby Wright; paternal grandparents Arthur and Beulah Ball, his beloved first cousin and friend, Jeff Lackey.
Surviving are; Region Ball of Cherokee, NC., Ashton Ball of Bryson City; and Asiah of Bryson City. His sister, Brooke W. Morris of Pineville NC, her husband David and family, and nephew Ryver. Sister; Tina Cates and family, of Mechanicsvile, VA. Brother; Chris Ball and family of Salisbury, NC. His children's mothers: Sabrina Hornbuckle & Ashley Ball. His maternal Aunts; Shirley, Joan, and Kathy. His paternal Aunts; Betty, and Louise. His maternal Uncle Bill, and paternal Uncles; Frankie and Gene. Numerous family and friends.
Services will be held at 2:00pm, Wednesday, March 19th in the Chapel of Crisp Funeral Home, Bryson City. Burial is in Swain Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 PM Tuesday at the Funeral Home.
