Obituary of Margie Lorene Gasaway

Margie Lorene Gasaway, age 75, of Tin Man Road, Bryson City, North Carolina, went to be with the Lord Friday, March 7, 2014, at C. J. Harris Hospital after an extended illness. Born on January 13, 1939 in Bryson City, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Wheeler and Ida Parris of Bryson City. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-five years; Frank Burton Gasaway; a son Ronald D. Gasaway; two sisters; Wilma Pauline Cody and Ella Mae Watkins; and a brother; Manuel Wheeler Parris. Mrs. Lorene Gasaway was a homemaker who enjoyed painting, gardening and loved animals. Even while suffering late stage Alzheimer's she always asked if her dogs and cats had been taken care of. Lorene was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She always loved to see and talk about her three grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She never met a child or animal that she did not love unconditionally. Mrs. Gasaway is survived by her son; Rocky Gasaway and wife Mary of Fletcher; one grandson; Joshua Gasaway and wife, Rio, of Inman, South Carolina; two granddaughters; Meredith Gasaway and Kimberly Gasaway of Fletcher; one great-grandson; Brady Gasaway of Inman, South Carolina; her sister; Audrey Stroud of Bryson City; and her brother; Gentry Parris of Bryson City. The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 9, 2014 from 3:30 PM until 4:00 PM at Crisp Funeral Home in Bryson City, followed by the funeral service officiated by Reverend Stacey Harris.
