Obituary of Elouise Rudd Davis

Elouise Rudd Davis of Breedlove Road, Bryson City died on Wednesday, September 15, 2010 at her residence. She was a native of Jacksonville, FL and resided in Bryson City for the past 18 years. She was the daughter of the late Rudy J. and Martha C. Rudd of Jacksonville, FL. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Ellison F. Rudd and Sherman J. Rudd; and three sisters, Edith Dorough, Ernestine Lacey, and Dulcie Strickland. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Othello J. Davis, Sr; daughter, Dawn Barnes; and two granddaughters, Erin and Kira Barnes. She is survived by two sons, O James Davis, Jr. of Bryson City and Matthew L. Davis and wife JoSue of Clarksburg, West Virginia; one daughter, Brenda Sizemore and husband James of Whittier; ten granddaughters; seven great granddaughters; three great grandsons; one sister, Thelma Wilcox of Apple Valley, CA; a nephew, Ellison C. Rudd and wife Cheryl of Whittier; a niece, Sylvia Taylor and husband Don of Alarka; and several other nieces and nephews in various areas of the United States. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Whittier, NC. She retired after 25 years with the U.S. Government as a Personnel Specialist and worked for over 10 years with the Holiday Inn in Cherokee. She loved people and was happier when she was spending time with her family and numerous friends. She loved her church and her church family, which here such an important part of her life, as well as the activities and meetings in which she was able to participate. She had a great love of music throughout her life and has actively participated in music both in church and community and has enjoyed traveling in various parts of the world. Funeral services will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Whittier, NC at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, September 18, 2010 with Bishop Tim McCourtney officiating. Burial will be at the New Whittier Cemetery in Whittier. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church and at other times the family will receive friends at the home. Crisp Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
