Obituary of Ethel Arvey
Ethel Lakey Arvey, 93, of the Deep Creek Community went home to be with the Lord and her family in Heaven, Wednesday, December 18, 2013. She was a native of Macon County, but lived most of her life in Swain County. She was the daughter of the late John and Mary Briggs Lakey. She was a member of Deep Creek Missionary Baptist Church and was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband Gordon O. Arvey three brothers; five sisters; one grandchild Keith B. Buchanan; and one daughter-in-law Thelma Arvey.
She is survived by four children, Rebecca Arvey Buchanan and husband Jim, Stanley Arvey, Roger Arvey and wife Sandie, and Nancy Jane Shuler and husband Tommy all of Bryson City; five grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; one sister-in-law Lois A. Phillips of Salem, OR; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday in the Chapel of Crisp Funeral Home. Revs. Earl Holden and Jon Stephens will officiate with burial in Swain Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8:00 PM Thursday at the Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be the grandsons and great grandsons.
